Latest adventures in the Ardeche
At our weekly staff get together we challenge our staff to tell us what they did that was totally new to them. It’s a nice way to reflect on the past 7 days and gives us an opportunity to share our adventures. With Annabel absent on UK duty, here are the results:
Emma: Decided to do a second winter ski season in Courchevel!! We are absolutely delighted that all of our summer staff will be joining us in Le Praz this winter. Emma will be making a return to Chalet Sandrine to cook up a nightly storm and entertain all of our fantastic ski and snowboard clients.
Jennie: Sent a group of clients canyoning. See our Ardeche canyoning blog post for more on what this is. so far, Jennie has never had any of her groups go although she has managed to get involved with one of Emma’s groups and smarm a free trip down the canyon. The clients were raving about the trip over dinner last night and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Sam: Threw an egg 49 metres and had it caught by Adam. This weekend is the ‘fete de Lagorce’, the annual 3-night village spectacle of daytime entertainment and night time partying at the home of our Hotel near Vallon Pont d’Arc. It’s a very lively event which kicked of in original style with an egg-chucking competition. The idea is that in teams of two you have to throw an egg and have it caught by your partner without it getting smashed. Needless to say plenty of wayward throws end up all over the road and nearby buildings but Sam and Adam pulled off a respectable 2nd place thanks to Sam’s big arm and Adam’s dodgy one-handed catching technique. The winner made 51m but we’ll be back next year!
Janine: Managed not to break anything! We know that this sounds like it should be fairly normal but Janine has not had a good run this summer. Basically, if it’s electronic or mechanical – keep it away from Janine!
Adam: Went climbing at Seynes. Seynes is a very famous local crag with well over a hundred sport climbing routes from easy 4b’s to utterly impossible 7c’s. Adam and Annabel headed over there with some friends who are staying at the hotel to try out a few routes and found it to be excellent. The crag is a 5-minute walk from the parking place but nicely off the beaten track. It was very quiet and the routes and protection are in excellent condition. We’ll be back for more!!
See more about our Ardeche climbing trips here and check out the map below. The Seynes crag runs west from the village of Seynes all the way to the village of Brouzet les Ales. It’s HUGE!
So, that’s it for this week’s adventures. We’ll be sure to let you know what we get up to next time!
