Ardeche is #1 says The Sunday Times!

We all knew it already but this weekend the Ardeche was named as the number 1 destination around the Med for summer 2012!

In The Sunday Times guide the Ardeche came out top for its ‘spectacular gorges’ as well as ‘top hiking, mountain-biking, kayaking and rock climbing, pretty villages to explore and excellent food’. Beat that!

ST writer Stephen Bleach was clearly overwhelmed with the adventures on offer and the relaxed vibe of the place. We couldn’t agree more with him. What’s more, all of these adventures and many more are available with Evasion Travel plus accommodation in campsites, self catered gites and our new Ardeche hotel!

Happy New Year from Evasion Travel

Happy New Year from all of us at Evasion Travel. We would like to wish you all the very best for 2012 and are sure that it is going to be another cracking year…

Of course, the start of a New Year is always busy for us. Winter is in full swing with chalets and apartments bursting at the seams with holidaymakers enjoying ‘too much snow‘ as reported in the UK press! We are sure that such a situation cannot possibly exist! We’ve just has another foot of the white stuff here in Le Praz and there is more on the forecast for next week – the conditions simply could not be better!

With another year under way we need to be thinking about the future as well. Summer is already sneaking up on us and with new accommodation and holidays on offer this year we’ll be keeping busy preparing for our return to the Ardeche and more summer adventures.

In addition to our existing family, multi-activity, walking and canoeing holidays we’ll be rolling out new cycling trips and sport climbing courses as well as gites and the hotel.

As always, the summer starts with our Alps to Ardeche cycle ride. This year we are hoping to be able to support Huck Cancer – a foundation created by a Courchevel winter worker who managed to juggle a season in the snow with fighting off cancer. We’ll be needing some inspiration like that as we take on the longest and toughest Alps to Ardeche yet – over 500km of riding and a brutal final day that starts with the gruelling ascent of the mile-high Mont Ventoux.

So, it’s going to be another fun and excitement filled year. We wish you a fantastic 2012 and hope to be able to see you out here during it!

Merry Christmas from Evasion Travel

We had a fantastic ‘Santa Challenge’ day here in Courchevel this Christmas. Lots of fun on the ski slopes followed by lots of yummy Christmas dinner!

Hopefully you also had a great Christmas day. We’d like to wish you all the very best for 2012 and hope to see you in Courchevel or the Ardeche soon!
