Just for info, the point of the water chute below the dam is a protective measure in case the water in the reservoir should rise above the level of the dam and flood over it. If this happens, the effect can be catastrophic, with the resulting downrush of water attacking the dam&#039;s foundations and the surrounding ground, which can - and has numerous times around the world - cause the dam to collapse. The giant water chute serves to carry flood water away from the dam while the &#039;spraying&#039; effect turns a wall of water into water droplets, greatly reducing its destructive power. Just thought you might like to know!</description>
