Welcome to ‘Les Beaux Terroirs’ – a collection of four beautifully renovated cottages with a swimming pool, recently converted from 250-year old buildings on the southern border of the Ardèche.

The gites are a wonderful base for a relaxed, self-catered holiday with terraced gardens, private outdoor areas and a welcoming swimming pool away from it all. We will be there to welcome you and will be on hand to ensure that you have all the guidance that you need.

The village is called St Andre de Roquepertuis and lies on the border between the unruly landscape of the Ardèche and the vineyards of the Rhone Valley. The gites are names after four of the finest wine growing ‘Terroirs’ in the Rhone Valley.

There are plenty of things to do but the village remains peaceful and relaxed. The wonderful thing about StAndre is that visitors benefit from the qualities of Provence gites but also Languedoc gites and Ardèche gites as well – it’s all here!

A little history of our Gites…

The gites were originally an important part of the village farming community with large vaulted cellars, thick, cool stone walls, stables and living areas. They were bought and renovated in 2005 by Sam Owens, a wine wholesaler who had fallen for the charms of this rugged corner of Provence.

Sam saw to it that the renovation preserved the unique style of the region whilst cutting no corners with regard to quality. He employed the skills of local builders as well as drafting in friends and family to create the four gites in a style that would match the ancient charm of the buildings with modern fittings that make for a most comfortable stay.

In the gardens, the old terracing has been rebuilt to provide numerous shady spots for a quiet lunch or a drop of local wine. There is plenty of car parking and the swimming pool is hidden away down a tree-lined path with a commanding view up the river valley.

In 2007, Evasion Travel and Sam crossed paths and began a close friendship. Evasion was establishing itself as a local specialist and was looking for extra accommodation for self catered trips. Over the years Sam has handed over the management of the gites to Evasion and created himself a new project – namely his baby son, Olly.

Sam lives in Cambridge, UK and comes by regularly on his trips to research wines for his company. Evasion would not even consider using a different wine supplier for its winter holidays in the Alps!

We look forward to being able to share the gites (and some wine!) with you.
