St Alban is a charming, traditional village on a quiet road, just 5km from the main town of Ruoms and 15km from Vallon Pont d’Arc. The village is full of character with beautiful old stone buildings, busy locals going about their business and is surrounded by vineyards, orchards and ancient buildings. The river is a very short walk away.
The village is between a rocky rise and the flood plain of the river. A short walk will earn you either a fantastic view or a refreshing dip! Visitors are encouraged to take a stroll around the old streets and tracks to see for themselves. In the centre is a baker, shop, bar, restaurant, games area and the old church. The hotel is an important part of the village – well known among the locals and well liked among Evasion Travel’s guests.
To the northeast of St Alban is the the meeting point of three rivers, the Beaume, Chassezac and the mighty Ardeche. these rivers bring together three distinct landscapes as well – the fertile plains, densely forested ridges and the unmistakable limestone canyons that define the area.
In the hills all around are ancient hamlets, monuments and plenty of wildlife – it’s a paradise for walkers, cyclists, climbers and canoeists.
