Overview:
At 3 Star the paddler should see themselves as an intermediate paddler rather than a beginner. Throughout the course we will be looking at intermediate moving water skills and the traditional skills such as poling, lining and tracking. The trip includes a2-day river descent with overnight camping plus 6 nights based at our hotel.
Itinerary:
Day 1
Arrival and orientation – introduction to the course
Day 2 (Ardeche)
The 1stday on the water will be looking at the forwards j-stroke, c-stroke, Indian stroke and backwards paddling, this will be as a solo and a tandom paddlers. River reading and river running.
Day 3 (Ardeche)
1st Day of Ardèche River Descent, putting river reading into practice, leadership skills, breaking in and out of eddys, ferry gliding and support strokes. In the evening we will be preparing our bivouac, ready for a night under the stars!
Day 4 (Ardeche)
2nd Day of Ardèche River Descent, Rescue skills and looking at the more traditional canoe skills of poling + lining and tracking.
Day 5 (Location TBC)
Paddle away day (Water and river dependant). Today we’ll head to one of the many local rivers to test your skills in a new environment and under different conditions.
Day 6 (Ardeche)
Re-cap of all skills on flat and moving water. Tests and certification.
Day 7 (Ardeche)
Re-cap of all skills on flat and moving water. Tests and certification.
Cost and booking
This course costs €1,050 (c. £895) per person.
Cost includes:
Coaching staff, canoes & specialist equipment, tents and sleeping mats, sleeping bags.
Airport/train station pickup and drop off from Nimes or Avignon and all local transportation.
Accommodation (1 night camping, 5 nights hotel)
Breakfast and dinner when in hotel accommodation.
Cost excludes:
Travel from home to Nimes/Avignon, lunches, campsite breakfasts and dinners, personal accident & belongings insurance.
