Our short breaks and active weekends can take place at the hotel or our riverside campsite. These are great options for those that want to take our ‘Ardèche Classic Break‘- a two-day canoe descent of the famous canyon with a night under the stars in the Ardèche National Park.

About us in the Ardèche
The Ardèche is where it all started for Evasion Travel when founder, Adam Breen stumbled across it in the spring of 2001 and just loved it – he was hooked on the rugged, peaceful landscape, welcoming people and intoxicating scents of the forests and farms.
Between 2001 and 2006, Adam shared his time between running canoeing and family holidays in the Ardeche and travelling to other parts of France in search of adventure. Finally, in autumn of 2006 he started Evasion Travel with the help of his partner, Annabel. Evasion’s first Ardeche summer was in 2007 and we remember it very fondly – rumbling around the region in ‘Royston’ – our original minibus – full of families, canoeists and cyclists. Adam’s vision was always to work closely with the Ardechois community and not to have a foreigners enclave, separated from the rich social and cultural mix that is omnipresent here. We work with the Ardeche Gorge National Park to ensure that our holidays never have a negative impact on the local environment and are delighted that over the years our professional relations with activity specialists, hotels, gite owners, campsites and local restaurants have turned into solid friendships, built on a foundation of hard work and mutual respect. Adam and Annabel married in 2009 and bought a house in Vallon Pont d’Arc – the hub of our Ardeche activity holidays.
At the time of writing, Evasion travel has 7 English staff and helpers plus a great many more French staff, contractors and independent suppliers. We run a hotel, seven gites and work closely with local campsites in order to provide accommodation for all of our clients. Even Royston is still on the scene – now in semi-retirement as a building and maintenance van for our gites. Good old Royston!
