The position involves lots of cooking and cleaning but there is much more to it than this. At Evasion our chalet hosts need to be able to really interact with their clients, both in the chalets and on the mountain. We make sure that this is possible by giving them the training and ongoing support that they need to run a smooth ship.

Our chalet hosts work 6 days a week, preparing meals for our clients, being a source of information for them and ensuring that their chalet is in tip top condition all of the time. We spend two weeks prior to the start of the winter season training and refining our menus, preparing the chalets and putting all of this little things in place that will make a great big difference to our guests when they arrive. The role is very sociable and involves a lot of attention to detail so we require a fun, organised individual.

Working for Evasion should be two things: hard and rewarding. We won’t take people who are not mature, socially confident and able to think on their feet. We don’t believe in babying our staff but we do believe that they should be well supported with the tools and resources that they need to do their jobs to the highest standards.

The demands on our staff to think for themselves and to come up with practical solutions to everyday problems are great however they always have somebody to fall back on (don’t worry – we won’t leave you out there on your own!). In having total responsibility for their chalets and clients they have true ownership of the product that they are delivering and that’s what we believe makes them enjoy their work so much. It’s also the thing that makes a good holiday great.

Away from our work, we make the very most of where we are – heading up onto the mountains or off on exciting trips whenever we can. Last winter all of our skier staff learned to snowboard (and vice versa), we climbed mountains, hiked across snowfields, skied to Italy, went indoor climbing and ice climbing, went to gigs, visited other resorts, ate lots of nice mountain lunches and picnics, learned to cross country ski and snow shoe, tried the luge and much more. To cap it all off we then cycled back to our summer base in the Ardèche. Oh, we also had a night or two in the pub. We are hoping that this winter will hold even more adventures!
