After 21 years World Cup racing is back. A women’s race takes place on December 21st and the resort is quite excited.
Back in January 1979, for the only time its history, the resort hosted the men’s giant slalom. One of the greatest racers, Sweden’s Ingemar Stenmark, a man with 86 World Cup victories to his name, won a resounding victory. Courchevel has high hopes for their own Taïna Barioz who wasn’t even born the last time the World Cup came to Courchevel. Click here to read more »

The summer may not quite be over but already it seems that our lovely clients are getting excited about their next Evasion Travel holiday.
Our ski chalets and apartments in Courchevel are getting heaps of early enquiries and some of the busier weeks of the year (namely New Year and Half Term) are nearly booked up! Among the favourites are our newest self catered apartment ‘le Grand Cerf‘ (3 bedrooms) as well as our piste-side catered chalet ‘Pige‘ which was incredibly popular last winter as well.
We try to have a range of self catered and catered properties in a variety of sizes so that our summer clients have plenty to choose from. This summer, some people have chosen to take a small self catered gite to enjoy as a couple whilst others have brought their families or friends to enjoy an accompanied holiday at our hotel. We want to be able to offer the ‘winterised’ versions of these trips in Courchevel.
Of course, the greenery of the Ardèche will be replaced by blankets of snow in Courchevel but many things will remain the same – most important of these things will be the people that you see. Janine, Emma, Jennie, Adam and Sam will all be there to ensure that everything from first contact to farewells go super-smoothly.
Why not drop us a line or take a look at the Courchevel ski holidays section of the website to learn a little more…

STORM alerts were lifted across the south-east this morning after waves of thunderstorms caused damage and closed roads in seven departments, but left no one hurt. Nearly 500mm of rain was dumped on the Gard in three storms over 24 hours. No one was hurt in the downpours, which saw several secondary roads closed and a hall opened at Savignargues to shelter people who had been stranded. More than a thousand people were evacuated from campsites in the southern Ardèche near Rosières, when the Beaume river burst its banks after rising 1.7metres. They were taken to community halls for shelter. Pompiers dealt with 240 call-outs to help people stranded. At Vallon-Pont-d’Arc, three Belgian tourists were taken to safety after being left stranded on the wrong side of the river Ardèche when it rose 6m. The orange and red alerts were lifted by Météo France through the night after the storms passed through the Var and Alpes-Maritimes early this morning. In June, 25 people were killed, including two swept away by floodwaters, after storms raged round the Var town of Les Draguignan. |
At Evasion Travel, we are very concious of the environment in which we work and have decided that it is time to share our thoughts and intentions with our clients so they can see how we operate with regard to responsible tourism.
See our new responsible tourism page at http://evasiontravel.co.uk/responsible-tourism-with-evasion-travel. We welcome any feedback from past or prospective clients.
